What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a form of manual medicine. This means we use our hands to assess and treat a person. A variety of techniques that stretch, massage, and mobilise muscles, joints, ligaments, and connective tissue are used, to help the body’s own healing system to return itself to optimal functioning. This also helps the fluids in the body to circulate unhindered creating more fluid movement in the body.

Osteopathy is holistic. This means that the body is looked at as a whole. So sometimes this involves working on a part of the body that is different from the part that ‘hurts’. This is because there is often a strain pattern in an individual that is stopping the body from returning to normal functioning.

Please note, Scott Osteopathy does not offer ACC, if you require an ACC consultation, I will be able to refer you to a clinic that does offer ACC.
